Non Destructive Testing

Our NDT services:
Magnetic particle inspection (MPI)
Primarily used for crack detection, the part being tested will be magnetised, identifying a surface braking flaw if the magnetic field becomes distorted with magnetic flux leakage showing around the issue area.
Eddy Current Testing (ECT)
A coil carrying an AC current is used close to the surface of the specimen to identify flaws and material variations. The presence of flaws is measured by electrical changes in the coil. Voltage and phase changes can be measured using this technique.
Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI)
Used as a simple, low cost solution to detect surface-breaking flaws. Flaws must be at the surface to be detected, this is one step up from visual inspection and is a quick, easy way to cover a large area.
Ultrasonic testing of welds in all configurations (UT)
Ultrasonic methods of NDT use short vibrations and high-frequency, transmitted from a small probe and detected by the same or other probes. These vibrations can travel large distances in fine-grain metal. This detects internal, hidden discontinuities that may be deep below the surface.
Ultrasonic thickness checks (UT)
Similar to ultrasonic pulse-echo testing, this method tests out the time of travel of a pulse to a reflector in order to measure thickness.
